REMEMBERING THE HURRICANE

The BBC recently published an excellent web-page that was written by Amy Lofthouse, charting the miscarriage of justice held against Middleweight contender Rubin “Hurricane” Carter (May 6, 1937 – April 20, 2014), who was wrongfully convicted of murder and unjustly incarcerated for almost 20 years.

Rubin was freed in 1985. He sadly died of cancer in 2012.

Below is an extract of the article syndicated from the BBC:

The BBC’s World Service has been investigating three murders that took place at the Lafayette Bar and Grill in Paterson, New Jersey in 1966. Over the past 15 weeks ‘The Hurricane Tapes’ podcast has been broadcast.

Before that, there was simply the Hurricane – Rubin Carter.

This is his story.”
